Overview: John Doe Preparatory School is a private, co-educational school for boys and girls aged 8-18.  John Doe students pursue academic work among their peers, which challenges their imagination, intelligence, and self discipline. Intensive language classes are offered for those who are not bilingual.

Academic Programs: John Doe's academic programs include full offerings in math, science, history, English, foreign languages, English as a second language, the arts, and athletics. Each student must take at least five courses per term and graduate with a minimum of 18 credits. Within this framework, considerable care is taken to provide students with appropriate challenges. For many students, this means acceleration into the honors and Advanced Placement courses offered in all disciplines. An average class size of 10 and a student-teacher ratio of 7:1 ensure that each student receives the individual attention and encouragement that is vital to her success.

Athletics: John Doe requires each student to participate in an athletic activity of his/her choice each term, including at least one team sport per year. Athletics teach students valuable skills, enhance self-discipline, encourage confidence, and provide leadership opportunities. The wide variety of athletic offerings includes varsity and junior varsity sports as well as noncompetitive and recreational activities. In the fall term, students choose among soccer, field hockey, cross-country, riding, recreational tennis, modern dance and choreography, and the Wilderness Program.

Extracurricular Events: With clubs and organizations to match every interest, it is easy to get involved at John Doe. The Student Council, the Social Committee, the Athletic Association, the Judicial Committee, and the Student-Faculty Advisory Committee provide excellent leadership opportunities, while the Essence Diversity Club, the Environmental Club, the Photography Club, the French Club, the Latin Club, and the International Student Alliance bring together students with common interests and goals.
